Self Care and Leaving the Movement

you work to change the world – whatever your issue of focus – don’t
forget to take care of yourself. Social justice work is stressful. As
they say on airplanes, put on your own oxygen mask first. You are not
going to be of any use to others in the long term if you do not attend
to your own mental and physical health. So pace yourself, take breaks,
if you need them. Stop and breath and eat and sleep and connect with
loved ones and smell the flowers. Don’t forget to appreciate one
another, and know that I value and appreciate you. ❤

PS: I’m not leaving, perhaps because I have long been intentional about my own self care. 40+ years of activism, and counting…
